The Logistics and IT Performance Center (Leistungszentrum Logistik und IT) is an initiative of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and is funded by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The industry supports the center by participating in particular research projects. The aim is to develop the existing research and development center for logistics and IT in Dortmund with partners from business and science into a leading center worldwide.
Scientific institutions work together under the umbrella of the Leistungszentrum Logistik und IT, which are already shaping and promoting logistics research - each for itself. The research services and results are used directly in the participating institutions - whether in teaching, in doctoral studies and research projects as well as in the context of contract research, including in the associated Enterprise Labs. This has resulted in an up-to-date and direct transfer stream from research to teaching and application.
New innovation corridors and points of contact for research and innovation projects with industry as well as for networks and alliances will be focused. Current research fields and questions should be highlighted and new ones should be referred to. In addition, the project is based on six central pillars: contract research, licensing, spin-offs, heads & careers, further training and transfer to society. The Graduate School of Logistics as the excellence feature of the Leistungszentrum Logistik und IT offers a unique format for structured, business-oriented doctoral training.
